Consecutive prison sentences for father of murdered Cabazon boy
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A Riverside judge meted out a 25-year-to-life prison sentence Monday for Jake Haro in the disappearance and death of his young son.
Judge Gary Polk imposed an additional 6-years in a previous child abuse case plus another 8 months for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Haro earlier pleaded guilty but has not disclosed the location of the remains of his son, Emmanuel. Prosecutors believe that Emmanuel suffered multiple acts of abuse and repeated assaults. Still to be decided are the charges against Haro’s wife. Investigators believe the couple fabricated claims that Emmanuel “was abducted amid a surprise attack in a Yucaipa parking lot.” Rebecca Renee Haro maintains her innocence and is due back in court January 21st. “The lies told in this case only deepened the tragedy of Emmanuel’s death,” Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin said.
