Program ends putting people with disabilities at risk
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – Scaling back government services is being felt in California.

The Council on Developmental Disabilities announced Friday (November 7th) it is ending a program that provides life-saving support for people who rely on power for medical and daily needs. Essential services will no longer help people with disabilities to stay safe during Public Safety Power Shutoffs, especially during strong Santa Ana winds.

It had been operated through Independent Living Centers across the state and filled a critical gap between utility programs and the real-world needs of people with disabilities.
