A preview of California’s water year
SACRAMENTO - (INT) - While the California water year is off to a positive start, the State Department of Water Resources projects that only 10% of demands on the State Water Project will be met.
In the Colorado River Basin – the snowpack has had a slow start and is currently at about 42% of normal. Those these two imported supply sources provide half of all the water used in Southern California. On a positive note, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is projecting to end the year with 3.8 million acre-feet of water in storage – matching the record level reached in 2024.
