Officer-involved incidents take a heavy toll
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Twenty-eight persons died at the hands of law enforcement officers during 2025 across the Inland Empire. Another three officers lost their lives.
Figures compiled by Inland News Today showed the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was involved in six of the incidents and four with the San Bernardino Police Department. The toll included officer-involved shootings and pursuits that ended with fatalities. Three of the shootings were described as ‘suicide by cop’. Authorities did not publicly identify most of the decedents. Several of the deaths stemmed from domestic violence incidents. There were no known charges brought against any Inland Empire law enforcement officer in 2025 investigated under AB 1506.
