Thousands protest ICE presence in cities nationwide Demonstrations are breaking out nationwide over the actions of ICE immigration arrests. Crowds of protesters have mobilized against what they called the excesses of the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign.
The activism was spurred by the Jan. 7th fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, by an immigration agent in Minneapolis. Urged by the mayor of Minneapolis among others, multiple protests nationwide largely remained peaceful, though turnout was lighter than in the "No Kings" protests last year. More demonstrations are expected. Across Ohio, protesters were pelted with rain as they chanted and carried signs saying "Abolish ICE." Here in the Inland Empire, marchers in Coachella waved signs, called out in English and Spanish and danced to music from portable speakers. Passing drivers honked in support.
