Storm damage assessment completed
WRIGHTWOOD – (INT) – Assessment teams have completed their work in the wake of damage inflicted on San Bernardino mountain and desert communities by the December rainstorms.
Ninety-three buildings, mostly homes, had some degree of damage. Thirty-one had major damage and two were destroyed. Most of the losses were in Wrightwood, but inspectors also surveyed neighborhoods in Lytle Creek, Phelan and Pinion Hills. Officials said some structures may have sustained flood damage or incursions of mud but were not included in the assessment. The survey focused on the structural integrity of load-bearing walls, roofs and foundations. There was not an estimate of monetary losses. There was no loss of life in the onslaught that brought nearly 13 inches of rain to Lytle Creek in two days. Story Date: January 13, 2026
