U-Haul truck driver arrested in demonstration incident
LOS ANGELES - A man suspected of driving a U-Haul box truck into a group of demonstrators protesting the Iranian government in Westwood has been arrested.

Calor Madanescht, 48, was booked on a reckless driving charge — a misdemeanor — with $0 bail, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement Monday. Inmate records show Madanescht was released Monday on his own recognizance.

Though police initially said one person was struck by the truck and suffered no injuries, on Monday the department released a statement saying no one reported being hit by the truck. The driver of the truck, however, was injured in the chaos after the incident, according to L.A. Police Capt. Richard Gabaldon.
