New flu strain arrives in California
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – As predicted after the holidays, influenza and hospital admissions are increasing.

A newly emerging influenza strain, called H3N2 subclade K, that has been circulating round the world has been detected in California. Hospital admissions are on the rise.

State health officials have also confirmed the second pediatric flu-associated fatality in California this winter.

There is relief for those who take advantage of flu vaccines. The vaccines, tests, and treatments remain widely available for all Californians and that it is not too late to get a flu vaccine.
