SAN FRANCISCO – (INT) – In a major communications deal, Verizon will take control of Frontier Communications of California. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) gave its approval Thursday (January 15th).

Verizon will acquire Frontier subject to enforceable conditions, ongoing monitoring, and consumer protections.

The CPUC’s decision requires safeguards designed to protect customers, preserve service quality, and advance the public interest.

The approval follows extensive public participation, the CPUC said.
