Mother Nature rules the roost on water allocations
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – With all of California no longer in drought conditions, the State Department of Water Resources (DWR) is increasing to 30% allocations of State Project Water.

In December, the allocations were at just 10 percent.

The DWR bases its allocations on hydrological conditions, existing reservoir storage, and an assumption of dry conditions through the rest of the year.

While many factors are at play, the weather is the biggest. In December, all of California benefited from winter storms. However, January has been unseasonably dry and warm. As a result, the mountain snowpack and precipitation are below average for this time of year.
