Bay Area earthquake swarm expands
SAN RAMON - A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit San Ramon on Monday morning as over a dozen temblors shook the Bay Area.
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit San Ramon on Monday morning amid a swarm of 21 temblors in the area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The largest quake hit just after 7 a.m. about 2 miles east-southeast of San Ramon. More than 4,000 people reported feeling the earthquake at the start of the workday, with USGS reports of shaking coming from as far away as Santa Rosa, Modesto and Santa Cruz. The quake was originally reported to be a magnitude 4.3 but was later downgraded to 4.2 by the USGS.
