Attacks on wild burros get wider attention
MORENO VALLEY – (INT) – Wild burros that roam the hills on the outskirts of Moreno Valley will be getting some protection.
City officials are asking that incidents of unprovoked attacks on the animals be immediately reported so an investigation can be undertaken. Since last year, more than 20 burros have been injured or mutilated. Many suffered from arrow wounds or severe trauma. Several required humane euthanasia due to the extent of their injuries. The Riverside County Department of Animal Services is leading the investigation and is asking residents to report relevant information directly to their department at 951-358-7387. “Protecting our community includes protecting the wildlife that is part of Moreno Valley’s identity,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera.
