Hundreds of stolen catalytic converters recovered
CHINO - After a monthslong investigation, authorities made several arrests of individuals allegedly involved in a Southern California catalytic converter trafficking ring.
The Baldwin Park Police Department, with support from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the Chino Police Department, have arrested four people on suspicion of selling and purchasing stolen catalytic converters, police said in a news release. Investigators found 1,800 stolen catalytic converters valued at $500,000. Another suspect avoided arrest but left behind a child whom authorities were able to reunite with a parent. “Through shared intelligence and resources, investigators identified two key locations: a South Los Angeles site where stolen converters were being unlawfully purchased, and a secondary storage location in Norwalk,” the police department said.
