Witnesses report Ontario Mills firebug
ONTARIO – (INT) – Ontario police and fire investigators now have on their hands the second major arson case in just four days.

Multiple fires were set Friday inside the Ontario Mills mall shortly before its opening. All were quickly contained with most of the damage at the Nordstrom Rack and True Religion.

Informants indicated the fires were being intentionally set by a male suspect who was in possession of a lighter and a backpack.

Police quickly detained Luis Javier Gallegos, 28, of Rancho Cucamonga, on suspicion of felony arson. During the encounter, Gallegos did not comply with officers, and a use of force incident occurred, according to a news release.

Detectives are trying to identify a motive for the incident and determine if there is any connection to the April 7th Kimberly-Clark warehouse fire in Ontario. It destroyed the contents of the massive warehouse. The suspected arsonist is facing both state and federal charges.
