School board responds to Ceasar Chavez revelations
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – The San Bernardino city school board has voted to rename Chavez Middle School to Magnolia Heights Middle School.

It’s one of the first school districts in California to remove the name from a school campus following the controversy surrounding the farm labor leader’s legacy.

The school trustee’s decision followed a student-involved engagement process designed to identify a new school name reflective of the campus community and its legacy for future generations, an announcement said.
