Californians are aboard hantavirus-stricken boat
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – California residents were among those aboard the MV Hondius, a cruise ship that experienced an outbreak of Andes hantavirus.

California health officials are coordinating with federal and local health partners following notification of the disease as the ship heads for the Canary Islands.

One individual has returned to California and is in contact with local public health officials regarding their exposure. The risk to the public remains extremely low, officials said.
