Scenic Highway 1 reopens in time for summer getaways
CARMEL - (INT) – Vacationers can put an iconic section of Highway 1 back on their summer itinerary.

Travel between Cambria and Carmel has not been possible for three years while crews repaired two massive slides. But, the scenic highway is open.

According to Visit California, visitation has surged significantly. Northbound traffic at Ragged Point has grown more than 900% year-over-year—evidence of restored access and pent-up demand for travel to the iconic coastal corridor.

There has been a rapid and sustained return of visitor demand across Monterey County, San Luis Obispo County and the broader region.
