A 5.6 magnitude earthquake was reported near Willits, according to the United States Geological Survey.

People across Northern California were alerted about the earthquake through the MyShake app around 8:10 a.m.

Shannon Riley, deputy city manager for the City of Ukiah, said there's no apparent major damage in the city. Riley said there's been reports of pictures falling off of walls and similar issues, but they also haven't received any reports of serious injury or damage. City crews are also checking on historic buildings and public infrastructure.

Likewise, in Willits, city officials said there was no significant damage to city infrastructure, with essential public services remaining operational. Officials said the several gas stations are operating with backup generators, but Grocery Outlet and Safeway are temporarily closed as building repairs and safety inspections are finished. Mariposa Market and several other convenience stores are still open.

Mendocino County officials said their Emergency Operations Center has been activated at Watch Status and they're monitoring the situation.

"The Office of Emergency Services is working to create a damage survey to assess impacts caused by the earthquake and help identify community needs," Mendocino County said on Facebook

According to USGS, people reported feeling it as far as San Jose and Sacramento. (Source: ABC 10)
